For Team Captains

Register your squad, get your schedule, and lead your team to victory.

1 Registering Your Team

You'll need an invite link

The tournament organizer will share a registration link with you. It looks like rallyhq.app/t/tournament-slug/register.

Open the invite link

Click the link from your organizer to open the registration page.

Enter your team name

Choose something memorable. This is what appears on the scoreboard and bracket.

Provide your email

We'll send a magic link for secure access — no password needed.

Check your inbox

Click the magic link to sign in and complete your team registration. Once signed in you'll have a Rally HQ captain account at /captain that surfaces every tournament and team you're part of.
Your captain home

Once registered, /captain is your home base. From there you can reach:

  • My Events — every tournament you've registered for
  • My Teams — teams you captain plus teams the system links to you
  • Account — your display name, optional phone number, and terms acceptance status

2 Managing Your Team

Your team portal

Your magic link opens your team portal — the one place you self-manage everything about your team. No organizer needed.

  • Edit your team name any time before play begins.
  • Manage your roster — add, replace, or remove players and set the captain name.
  • Confirm payment — if the event has an entry fee, mark it paid after you've sent it (see below).
  • Refresh your link when it's close to expiring.

4 Finding Your Tournament

Lost the link? Here's how to find your tournament:

They can resend the tournament link or registration link.

5 Game Day Checklist

Arrive early

Plan to arrive 15–30 minutes before your first match for check-in and warm-ups.

Check in with the organizer

Let them know your team is present. This confirms you're ready to play.

Know your schedule

Open the tournament page on your phone. The Schedule tab shows your upcoming matches and court assignments.
Pro tip

Add the tournament page to your home screen for quick access. Look for the "Install" or "Add to Home Screen" option in your browser menu.

6 Scoring Matches

Captain privilege

As a team captain, you can score any match in the tournament — not just your own. No PIN required. Your team portal link serves as your authentication.

How to score

Open the court page for the match. You'll get the same scoring console a scorekeeper uses — tap + Point, confirm set wins, and Finish match when it's decided. Your scores sync instantly to all spectators.

Self-officiated games

Perfect for self-officiated matches. Both captains can help keep score without needing a separate scorekeeper.

7 Playing in a League

Recurring weekly tournaments

Leagues run multiple tournaments across a season. You register once and compete each week for cumulative standings.

One-time registration

Unlike regular tournaments, you only need to register once for the entire season. Your team is automatically included in each week's tournament.

Team standings

In a league, your team's wins and losses accumulate across weeks. Check the league's standings page to see your rank and playoff positioning.

Default scoring: Win = 3 pts, Tie = 1 pt, Loss = 0 pts (organizers can adjust the per-win value).

Player rankings (series)

A series works differently from a league. Teams re-form each event, so the series Rankings board ranks individual players, not teams. You earn season points based on how your team finishes in each tournament — summed across every event you play. Toggle Season vs All-time on the series page.

Playoffs

Top teams qualify for playoffs at the end of the season. The number of playoff spots depends on league settings — check with your organizer.
